The lasing spectrum of the 600°C annealed device at 8.1 × I th (320 mA) is shown in Figure 4. Since the bandwidth saturates at current greater than 320 mA, the maximum bandwidth obtained is 8.18 GHz.
The goal of this test facility is to demonstrate CW operation with an average beam current greater than 100 mA, and with greater than 99.95% efficiency of current recovery.
So, the new DacValue is the sum of the old DacValue and the delta that is determined by the sum of the harvested current (greater than or equal to zero) and the consumed current (smaller or equal to zero), scaled with the harvestMultiplier.
However, recent experiments have shown that if the bias voltage is pulsed, not only is the magnitude of the ion current greater than for the DC bias case, but this current also continues to increase as the bias voltage is increased.
This project is a coordinated effort among NAVSEA, LANL and AES, to develop a key enabling technology for high-power FEL called for by the High Energy Laser Joint Technology Office: a high current RF photoinjector capable of producing continuous average current greater than 100 mA.
