The simple snowmelt model, driven solely by cumulated air temperature, predicted snowmelt dates with a 0.5 < R < 0.8 and a mean absolute error (MAE) 4.8 < MAE < 8.2 days (Table S2).
Our fifteen year data set revealed a negative relationship between laying day and spring temperature (cumulated degrees; Fig. 1) with lizards laying eggs earlier in relatively warmer years (parameter estimate −4.971 ± 1.957 (± s.e.m ., P = 0.0244; Table 2; Fig. 1).
In order to characterize the weather conditions at the plantation site, temperature sum (cumulated mean temperatures CMT,°C), number of chill days with mean temperature below 5°C (CD<5°C), and the number of days without rain (cumulated dry days, CMDD) were calculated in relevant periods of time in all years of study from the records of a nearby meteorological station.
Weekly mean temperature and cumulated rainfall are significantly associated with HFMD incidence with a time lag of 1 2 weeks in Singapore [ 4].
The impact of various parameters either directly related to the processing route, e.g. the intimate microstructure of the TBC and the TBC thickness, or to the thermal loading, e.g. the oxidation temperature and the cumulated hot time, on the durability of the TBC is investigated.
Therefore, the annual cumulated sums of mean and maximum temperature were used as proxies for spring climate and were submitted as predictors in the statistical analysis.
In addition, a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM) [ 21, 22] was incorporated in the Poisson regression in order to explore the non-linear relationships between temperature and daily ER visit counts cumulated across specific lag periods.
During the census period, the weekly mean temperature was 21.3 °C, ranging 12.7 30.0 °C, whereas the annual cumulated precipitation was 3992.25 mm (Additional file 1: Table S1).
We calculated annual cumulated sums (sums of daily values) of mean and maximum temperature over April-May (following [ 61, 62, 11]), as these months represent the reproductive period [ 58, 63].
