Many reports have confirmed that rather than pure cultures, consortium of many bacteria show improved electron transfer rates to the anode.
Results showed that significant amount of butanol as high as 3.73 g/L was achieved by co-culture consortium N3 and C. acetobutylicum ATCC 824.
