Additionally, the diameter of the Polygoni Multiflori Radix differed, apparently due to whether the cultivation occurred in normal soil or mountain, and cultivation time (Figure 1, Table 1).
Based on CCD experiment, the effects of three independent variables including speed of agitation, fish gelatin concentration and cultivation time on gelatinolytic enzyme production are shown in Table 4.
In jar fermentation, thiourea addition decreased intracellular H2O2 concentrations, lowered cultivation time, and increased l-lysine production when E. coli utilized fatty acid (Table 5).
The significant variables studied included fish gelatin concentration cultivation time and speed of agitation, in which each was assessed at five coded levels (Table 3).
However, when glucose was utilized, the total cultivation time and l-lysine production remained the same, even though intracellular H2O2 concentrations decreased (Table 5).
Table 1 presents an overview of the most interesting process parameters, such as cultivation time, maximal CDW, maximal Surfactin concentration, maximal growth rate, product yields (YP/X, YP/S, qSurfactin, vol. qSurfactin) and substrate utilization (YX/S).

For a conventional batch fermentation, the final cell density (CFU/mL) at 8-h cultivation time significantly increased, although dsRNA yield (μg/mL) was half of that obtained in the lab-scale cultivation with TB broth (Table 1).

From the table, it can be seen that the pH measurement under shaking conditions showed consistency with time, increasing with concomitant increase in cultivation time.
