Three groups of Long Evans male rats (325-350 g upon arrival, Charles River Laboratories, St-Constant, Qc, Canada) were included in this study: group 1 animals were trained in the spatial paradigm [two separate groups (n = 14) and (n = 5)], group 2 animals trained in a similar, but hippocampus-independent cue paradigm (n = 10), and group 3 animals were behaviorally naive (n = 10).
To address this issue we designed an attentional cueing paradigm using SOAs ranging from 500 ms to 1650 ms.
Future research may also extend the cuing paradigm to videos that are less familiar and require even more scaffolding of the inherent structure, such as novel naturalistic actions (Gold & Park, 2009).
