The catalytic core H-Y-E amino acid triad, critical for NAD+ binding and PARP activity, is conserved (Fig. S1A) [18].
The Fis-bound enhancer and Hin tetramer units fit remarkably well such that the critical amino acid triad on either of the flexible β-hairpin arms on both Fis dimers can be positioned proximal to Hin residues Gln151, Arg154, and Leu155 on the subunits bound to the hix1L and hix2R half sites.
