A comparison between local students and international Asian students at a university in New Zealand by Lun et al. (2010) found that Asian students gained lower scores on the Halpern Critical Thinking Assessment using Everyday Situations (HCTAES), but they surmised that this was mainly a consequence of the test being carried out in the students' second language.
