The US state department also called for an investigation and said the results were not a "credible expression of the will of the Zimbabwean people".
"If held under current rules and conditions, a referendum on the status of Darfur cannot be considered a credible expression of the will of the people of Darfur," US State Department Spokesperson Mark Toner said.
"The United States stands by our assessment that these elections, while relatively peaceful, did not represent a credible expression of the will of the Zimbabwean people due to serious flaws throughout the electoral process," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said earlier this week.
