Critics were less enthused by the mash-ups than the other performances; Criss's cover of "Teenage Dream" was particularly well-received, and became the first Glee single to top the Billboard Digital Songs chart.
"Dream" is a cover of the Diana DeGarmo song "Dream, Dream, Dream" from DeGarmo's debut album, Blue Skies.
The show continued with a video interlude featuring Marilyn Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams", showing Spears in a classically decadent party-setting, in which everyone except her was wearing masks.
