They were designed in order to cover the complete sequences of the exons, the 5′ untranscribed region up to 350 nucleotides upstream exon 1, and, for introns, the short sequences where a SNP had been localised (see Figure 1).
Assembly of the two IR and the large single copy (LSC) and small single copy (SSC) contigs covered the complete sequence without gaps.
