We present a multimedia educational material (MEM), developed as an online course to "Seminars of Otolaryngology", and available free at the University website.
The units are written in stages over the course of the seminar, with ample opportunity for feedback, revision, both from the seminar leader and from colleagues in the seminar.
The second is what emerged in the course of this seminar: the personal cost of these painful lives.

Over the course of the seminar, participants read economic studies, anthropological accounts, literary analyses, and more.
We observed a gain in skills and knowledge of the participating students in the course of our seminar, but cannot judge what additional effect the blended learning/inverted classroom approach had in comparison to usual face-to-face teaching.
In order to receive credit for the course a list of seminars attended (date, speaker, title of seminar) and a two-sentence summary for each will be due by the last day of classes on Saturday, December 3, 2011.
