Despite an annual trauma mortality of 5 million people worldwide, resulting in countless physical disabilities and enormous expenses, there are no standardized guidelines on trauma organization and management.
I'm here today standing on the shoulders of countless people with disabilities, their family members and friends, and professionals who support them, who have fought over more than 65 years for the rights of people with I/DD.

Our focus has broadened to include the cause of women, of Latinos, of Asian Americans, of lesbians, of gays, of people with disabilities, and of countless others across this great country who still yearn for equality.
