Many common chemotherapeutics act by inducing oxidative stress [ 22– 26], which could be counteracted by the reducing power produced by the oxidative branch of the PPP.
When combined, the activating effect of irbesartan was counteracted by aliskiren, reducing hs-PRA, ANG I, and ANG II by 88, 78, and 56%, respectively, compared with irbesartan monotherapy.
