Women with household incomes at or below the poverty level were also more likely to have been counseled on using the medication: 13 percent of those who reported income below 101 percent of the poverty level said they had received information about emergency contraceptives, compared with just 4.9 percent of those who reported income 251 percent above the poverty level.
For midwives and general practitioners there should be more emphasis on counselling using strategies that are clinically feasible and on ethical issues relating to genetic conditions.
