A paradigmatic case is that hexa-alkyl-thio substituted triphenylenes present mesogenic behavior while the corresponding azatriphenylenes, similar in shape and chemical structure, but with a different core charge distribution, do not form any liquid crystalline mesophase.
The strongest peak (near 355 cm−1) showed a gradual change in shape, corresponding to change in the ratio of intensities of two superposed peaks, 2LA (~352 cm−1) and E1 2g (~356 cm−1).
The nS, wT, and nT PSFs are all quite Gaussian in shape, corresponding to CTFs generally similar in shape and differing in slope.

This shows that the waveforms found in the post-ictal period were significantly more similar in shape to their corresponding pre-ictal waveform than would be expected by chance.
