Lower values of mineralizable C was found for biochars than corresponding feedstocks, except for ES.
The spectra showed that the enzymes released products similar to those that would be expected for the corresponding natural feedstocks.
A clay loam soil was amended with chicken manure (CM), sewage sludge (SS), eucalyptus sawdust (ES) and filter cake (FC) feedstocks and corresponding slow-pyrolysis (400 °C) biochars at 5 g C kg− 1 soil in combination with two N fertilizer rates (0 and 140 mg N kg− 1 soil).
The composition and microstructure of the feedstock powders and corresponding composite coating were examined by scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectrometry (SEM-EDS) and X-ray diffraction.
The fully melted region, liquid-phase sintered region and solid-phase sintered region of the coating derive from the region of the feedstock, where the corresponding temperature during plasma spraying is beyond 2045 °C (melting point of Al2O3), between 1840 °C (melting point of TiO2) and 2045 °C and below 1840 °C, respectively.
Experiments will have to be performed for other barley feedstocks in order to determine the corresponding ethanol yields.
A plot of the ratio of the heights of marker bands at 896 cm–1 (PT) and 802 cMPS (MPS) against the total concentration of modifiers in the feedstock shows that above 1 × 10 4 M (corresponding to monolayer coverage) PT preferentially adsorbs, but below monolayer coverage the ratios of peak heights are similar.
The enzymatic digestibility of this residue with the cellulase loading of 40 FPU/g substrate showed that 86.3% glucan in the residue was hydrolyzed to glucose, corresponding to 74.7% glucan based on sugar contents in the untreated feedstock (Table 2).
Xsp8 grown in batch-cultures derived from unbleached kraft hardwood pulp hydrolysate containing 70 g L-1 total sugars was able to completely and simultaneously utilize xylose and glucose present in the lignocellulosic feedstock, and yielded 11.0 g L-1 of TAGs as fatty acids, corresponding to 45.8% of the cell dry weight.
Figure 1 C shows the SERS spectra of a series of colloids prepared with simple 1 1 MPS PT modifying feedstocks that had different total modifier concentrations (between 10 3 and 10 5 M, corresponding to approximately 0.1 10 monolayers).
