An explanation for the lack of correlation between quantity of lesions and cognitive deficit might be the reversibility of DWI lesions after angioplasty that was recently demonstrated in a study by Hauth and coworkers [38].
The strength of the study may also be a weakness in that conventional wisdom points towards an inverse correlation between quantity and quality.
