The neural correlates of associative memory in healthy older adults were investigated by examining the correlation of associative memory performance with spontaneous brain oscillations.
Brain structural correlates of memory outcome were investigated with bivariate and partial correlations, as appropriate.
Importantly, comparison of KLRG1 levels detected within the P14/GFP+ cells at the peak of the response (Fig. 5A) between early and late transferred cells showed a strong correlation of greater memory formation in the later group with the lower expression of KLRG1 levels in these samples (Fig. 5B C).
This supports our recent finding of a positive correlation of working memory performance and preoperative posterior hippocampal deactivation (Stretton et al., 2012) and the importance of the change in left posterior hippocampus activation in supporting verbal episodic memory before and early after ATLR (Bonelli et al., 2013).
Experiment 3 also replicates our findings of a null association between WMC and spatial attention across Experiments 1 and 2. Such a finding is consistent with recent studies showing no significant correlation of working memory with covert spatial orienting (Fukuda & Vogel, 2009) in the absence of distracters.
Importantly, the correlations of IL-6 level with visual attention, task-switching ability (TMT-A and TMT-B), visuomotor processing speed (TMT-A and Digit Symbol Coding), memory performance (RAVLT) and the correlation of hsCRP with memory performance (RAVLT) remained significant after the application of restrictive Bonferroni correction.
Pearson correlations revealed that overall performance in each group was comparable for days 1 and 2. Intra-class correlations of "working memory deficit" on days 1 and 2 were moderate in patients and controls, suggesting that task performance for each subject was similar on the testing days.
Although these studies describe correlations of postoperative memory decline to preoperative medial temporal lobe activations, little is known of the predictive value of preoperative extra-temporal activations for postoperative memory change.
Correlations between frequencies of memory B cells and concentrations of plasma antibodies were determined using Spearman's correlation.
