The rule for determining whether a categorical variable difference was statistically significant was that one mean had to be outside of the 95% confidence interval of the other mean; for example, there was a significant difference between male samples and female samples if the mean subjective-genital correlation of either gender did not fall within the 95% confidence interval of the other gender.
