A correction relating to the spelling of the name of Tom Harrisson, one of the founders of Mass-Observation, appeared in the Corrections and clarifications column dated Tuesday 8 September 2009... and was itself the subject of a correction (from Robert Harrisson to Tom Harrisson) the following day.
These measurements entailed a comparison of how the automated correction with the spell checker performed compared to "gold standard" manual correction.
I much enjoyed the glossary in the Pulse column (Aug. 16) titled "The Queen's New English". Please allow me a little almost hairsplitting correction regarding the spelling and meaning of the term "Turschluss panik," which was defined as "door-shut-panic," or distress over being single in your late 30's.
