While those sites may represent examples of p53 proteins tethered to DNA by protein interactions, the manual inspection of "no grade" sites from the ChIP-exo datasets showed that the majority of these sites resemble p53 response elements but contain several (three or more) "core" mismatches scattered on three different quarter sites.
