Exclusion criteria included age <40 years, primary language other than English or Spanish, established diagnosis of a primary Axis I psychiatric disorder (eg, schizophrenia, bipolar disease), or degenerative neurologic disorder (ie, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) that could impact cognitive and/or physical performance or cooperation with study procedures.
Also, differences in management style, such as teamwork with trained cooperation, predefined procedures, and treatment plans, were thought to account for the better outcome.
