"The phasing out of illegal private security companies and road convoy security companies continues on a priority basis as laid out in the decree," his statement said.
The captain, with the grim seriousness of a young commander, also had arranged the entire visit as a training exercise in convoy security for the Iraqis.
"Long after the United States leaves Afghanistan, and the convoy security business shuts down, these warlords will likely continue to play a major role as autonomous centers of political, economic and military power," the report said.
At one point he said that convoy security would continue to be provided by private security firms, but that the Afghan police would accompany the convoys to ensure that security firm employees were not misbehaving.
Task Force Military Police was a support unit fulfilling security responsibilities in Anbar Province, including conducting convoy security missions and detainee releases, running regional detention facilities, and also managing the military working dogs in Anbar Province.
The company spent several weeks in division reserve, and undertook various missions such as convoy security and guarding command posts, as well as surveillance and visiting patrols behind the front lines.
