30 Therefore, enhanced sensitivity to TGS should be explained in the context of locus 1 itself rather than in the context of the genomic environment.
Various methods have been tried to identify biologic context for loci identified by GWAS, including (1) expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) mapping and expression single nucleotide polymorphism (eSNP) analysis [ 10, 15- 18], (2) network analysis [ 19, 20], and (3) pathway analysis [ 18, 21- 23].
Using an established analysis pipeline that draws on the accumulated knowledge gained from analysing sRNA data in A. thaliana [ 23], we characterised sRNAs in young leaf material and in particular we concentrated on describing the genomic distribution and context of loci producing numerous sRNAs as well as identifying predicted trans-acting siRNA and miRNA loci.
Moreover, in this context, loss of Rb locus favors the progression of low-grade gliomas to higher-grade tumors by conferring a double selective advantage to the tumor.
Given that most quantitative traits are influenced by a large number of often highly context-dependent loci, which by themselves affect the phenotype only a little, a more global approach is evidently needed to obtain a more complete understanding of the genetic architecture of quantitative traits (Falconer and Mackay 1996; Lynch and Walsh 1998; Mackay et al. 2009; Huang et al. 2012).
The results suggest that i) multiple sub-regions of perisylvian cortex are sensitive to the relationality carried by concepts even in the absence of arguments, ii) linguistic context modulates the locus of this sensitivity, consistent with prior studies, and iii) relationality information is accessed early – before 200 ms – regardless of the concept's event status or syntactic category.
The current study can also be placed in this context, situating the locus of plasticity in the top-down process rather than the bottom-up sensory process.
However we cannot rule out the possibility that the superior performance of this promoter construct in A. gambiae is due to position effects associated with the sequence context at the locus of transgene integration in this line.
There are 41 pairs of spacers that match one another at least 88% over a length of at least 17 nt that are not related to one another ancestrally, i.e. in the same context in the locus (spacers that match other spacers are indicated in Figure 2 by dots and are listed in Table S1).
