We analysed the way individual respondents in large population based surveys of conversational contacts distribute these contacts across different locations.
The co-crystal structure of HNF-3γ with DNA shows that there are 14 protein-DNA contacts distributing throughout the forkhead domain, but the third α-helix (H3) plays the most important role in a winged helix/forkhead protein's DNA-binding specificity [ 4].
The H-bonded chains are arranged so that the molecules of one chain fit into the grooves of the neighbouring chains (Figure 3b), and overall the twelve contacts are distributed with molecular centroids in the approximately close-packed arrangement identified in the original report of the structure.
