One of every three toys tested in a study of 1,500 popular children's toys contained potentially harmful levels of lead, arsenic, mercury and other dangerous chemicals, according to findings released earlier this month by the Ecology Center, an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based consumer safety organization.
"[I]nsurers founded the early fire departments and owned the equipment..., helped establish the first building codes and stand behind consumer-safety organizations such as Underwriters Laboratories.
His organization filed the suit on behalf of Cameron Gulbransen's father, Greg; the mother of a girl injured in a backup accident; and three safety organizations: Consumers Union of the United States, Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, and Kids and Cars Inc. "We're hugely thrilled," said Greg Gulbransen.
These groups represent just the tip of iceberg in a movement that includes environmentalists, politicians from both parties, students, public health organizations, big and small businesses, labor groups, consumer groups, senior citizens, and public safety organizations.
It is intended that, ultimately, the DDDA will be made freely available to patients, carers and clinicians by providing copies to (1) local, state and national healthcare authorities, (2) national road safety organizations, and (3) relevant consumer support groups.
The World Health Organisation calls this a threat to consumer safety.
You would think that government organizations such as the FDA and the USDA are in place for consumer safety, rather that corporate profit but the film points out that it's unfortunately not the case.
How should consumer safety be accounted for?
Consumer safety, however, drives sales.
