Patients are coded by serial number with their sex, age, source of referral, date of consultation, location of consultation, symptoms and risk factors.
For each consultation entry we determined who was seen/encountered (from the name of the person who made the entry; eg a doctor or receptionist's name), the consultation location (from the consultation type field; eg "GP surgery", "path lab").
For each subject, demographic information (gender, date of birth, date of death, postal code), diagnoses, caregiver relationship (for example, spouse, daughter, son, friend), primary reason for referral (pain, other symptom management, patient or family support, staff support, home consultation), location of death and program transition data were extracted from the PCP database.
Thirty three percent reported "other weaknesses" (n = 13) which included the need for a "better ventilation system", "the support service was not advertised well", "not enough space", "time of day for consultations", "location", and "different statistical packages used".
(T23) The respondents pointed out the importance of low threshold services, i.e. services without charges that are easy to reach (via consultation hours, location, phone or email), promptly available and proactive, as well as specific training of the help-providers in care for victims of traumatization to reduce barriers in the actual process of help-seeking.
The DCE will quantify trade-offs the public is prepared to make between the key characteristics of an emergency service differentiated according to the severity of condition (eg, waiting times, clinician versus nurse led consultations, service location, hospital or primary care clinic setting) which will inform the development of strategies for optimising appropriate ED utilisation.
Process issues, such as satisfaction with consultation waiting time, location, duration of counselling sessions, and type of service provider, have been examined in a number of studies (Shiloh et al, 1990; Bernhardt et al, 2000; Brain et al, 2000; Metcalfe et al, 2000; Wilson et al, 2000; Holloway et al, 2004; Pieterse et al, 2005a, 2005b).
In clinical practice, primary care health professionals show considerable variation in assessing lifestyle behavioural risk factors [ 32], but again treatment choices are generally influenced by the health professionals' beliefs and attitudes, and also by geographic location, consultation context and the patient's socio-economic status.
A total of 206 samples were randomly collected from women during their medical consultation at two locations: the Gynecological Unit of the Integrated Medicine Center, in Sergipe State, and Salgadinho Medical Care Center, in Maceió, Alagoas State, North-East Brazil, between November 2010 and July 2011.
Available health facility characteristics included: number of yearly general outpatient consultations, rural/urban clinic location, level of health facility (primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary), and mental health staffing (number of psychiatric technicians, psychologists, or psychiatrists).
