The 6-month cohort data includes directly observed and audio-recorded palliative care consultations (up to first 3 visits); patient/proxy/clinician self-report questionnaires both before and the day after consultation; post-consultation in-depth interviews; and medical/administrative records.
The process study was in three inter-linked parts: (a) video-recording of consultations followed by a quantitative interaction analysis (b) conversation analysis of consultations (c) in-depth qualitative interview work with patients, 3 days and then three months after the consultation.
