Recruitment of GPs for research studies is often challenging due to GPs' time constraints, lack of remuneration and workforce shortages.
Data suggest that in some jurisdictions, including Australia, many GPs want to be involved in palliative care delivery but have decreasing capacity to undertake visits to homes or aged care facilities due to workload, time constraints and inadequate remuneration [ 7, 122- 126].
In addition to prioritising the doctor-patient relationship, GPs reported other factors that influenced their limited interactions with employers and compensation agents: time constraints, lack of remuneration for the GP's time spent on the phone with compensation agents, GPs' frustration and lack of understanding of the compensation system, high paperwork burden and maintaining patient privacy.
