In comparing the frequencies of actual gene sequences and randomly permutated sequences, the null hypothesis is that the summation of averaged frequencies of a motif in the real gene sample set is consistent with the motif distribution of the summation of averaged frequency of randomized sequences.
By comparing the genomic localizations of MLL4 with those of C/EBPα, C/EBPβ and PPARγ, we found that consistent with the motif analysis, ∼64% of MLL4 binding regions overlapped with those of C/EBPα/β or PPARγ at day 2 of adipogenesis.
