Figure 2 summarizes our sampling method.
A possible reason is that the scale at which previous studies were conducted was too small (only few forest fragments and/or a small range of fragment sizes considered) and/or the sampling method was not the most optimal one.
Finally, by considering our results at the level of individual patients, we observed that different methods were capturing different subsets of the sample space i.e., the different approaches were correctly classifying different samples.
It also offers an overview of published equine pulmonary pharmacokinetic studies and considers the different sampling methods used and the influence existing methodological problems can have on the interpretation of data.
Apart from instrument availability, the main factors to be considered in choosing the sampling method are: (1) the concentration of the foliar VOCs in the system, (2) the time resolution required, and (3) the level of VOC separation required (Fig. 7).
Given the limited sample we have to analyze, we consider our results preliminary.
If focus is on clustering samples or on constructing regression variables for relating more broad aberrations to clinical outcome, one may consider using multi-sample methods.
Through time-dependent fragility analysis, the annual fragility curves for different damage states of the bridge systems under combined hazards can be obtained efficiently, in which the uncertainty of materials, scour depth, and ground motions are considered with the Latin Hypercube Sampling method.
When the results of this study are generalized, the limited number of participants should be considered, as well as the sampling method.
To address this issue, the focus of this study is on, among others, the use of response surface method (RSM) by considering both the selection of the sampling method and the choice of the response surface form (as two major factors affecting the RSM's performance).
