Because of a marked variation in expression levels of our target genes, we calculated the expression relative to the geometric mean of two housekeeping genes: glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), which demonstrated a considerable higher mRNA-expression profile compared to the other reference gene, TATA-box binding protein (TBP).
Samples with a considerable high ERG expression (48 samples; > 9.2) were labeled as fusion-positive, whereas tumor samples with low ERG expression (72 samples; < 8.0) were marked as fusion-negative.
