President-elect Bush has proposals to build conservation partnerships, to help states, local communities and private landowners to conserve wildlife habitat, watersheds and open space.
Successful conservation partnerships among public transportation agencies, land and wildlife management agencies, and environmental stakeholders offer hope that future efforts to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions will be the norm rather than the exception.
Yet little attention is paid to gender in the design and implementation of many conservation programs including those in the vibrant and expanding arena of Australian Indigenous conservation partnerships.

One provocative but sensibly workable key to its survival is presented by Bob Farrar, who, with the Longleaf Alliance, suggests the possibility of a conservation partnership with landowners who have "an incentive to grow and market longleaf timber".
"I think it's fair to call ORV usage in roadless areas a big-ticket issue," said Jim Range, an architect of the wetlands provisions of the Clean Water Act in the 1970's who is now chairman of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership.
