Pollution prevention techniques can be in various forms such as process and/or design improvement, materials substitution, energy or water conservation, inventory control, good housekeeping, and preventive maintenance, employee training, and waste exchange or pollution trading.

These assessments are conducted by watershed planning teams traveling through each watershed, meeting with landowners and conservation groups, inventorying agricultural areas, identifying conservation opportunities and current levels of resource management, and estimating impacts of these opportunities on the local priority resource concerns.

This approach will facilitate conservation prioritization, systematic inventory and continuous monitoring.
The conservation of this inventory of meiotic genes across such a diverse group of sexual and putatively asexual eukaryotes allows us to infer that the presence of these genes – particularly the meiosis-specific genes – in putatively asexual eukaryotes indicates the potential for meiosis, at least in their recent ancestors.
Because of limited resources and potential impact on conservation assets, both inventories and monitoring need to be as effective and efficient as possible.
