Refusing a congruent value was possible either when two 'wrong' values constituted a trial (DILEMMA condition), or when one word of each value type was presented but subjects made a 'wrong' decision, i.e. not congruent with their dominant value profile (WORSE-CHOICE condition).
But in individualists, the processing of this conflict was mainly supported by recruitment of the mSFG, showing that the conflict was caused by the counterfactual thinking which reveals that it would have been possible to choose a congruent value in accordance with the own value profile.
