The group was originally entitled "Study Group on Foundations of Cultural Unity," but this was later changed to "Study Group on the Unity of Knowledge".
At the end of the Eighth International Congress of Philosophy held in Prague in September of 1934, Neurath proposed a series of International Congresses for the Unity of Science.
In November 1866 he was awarded his first commission, the Church of the Unity in Springfield, Massachusetts (now demolished).
