While studies on the efficacy of ultrasonography screening under study conditions reported high sensitivities of 80-90% for antepartal detection of IUGR [ 14, 15], sensitivity in clinical routine (effectiveness) in the late 1990ies and early 2000 was about 25-30% [ 16, 17].
Some patients with severe chronic conditions report higher QoL than do healthy individuals [ 15].
For behavioural expectations, participants in the control condition reported higher behavioural expectations than did those in the self-affirmation conditions (Ms 3.03 and 2.74, respectively), b = −.35, t(119) = −2.04, p =.04.
As expected, participants in the incremental ability condition reported higher incremental beliefs (Summer minicourse: M = 4.75, SD = 0.79; follow-up assessment: M = 4.39, SD = 0.87) compared with students in the control condition (Summer minicourse: M = 3.94, SD = 1.06; follow-up assessment: M = 3.99, SD = 1.07).
Although this study is the only controlled study of a popular counseling approach in armed conflict settings, the study has limitations including a lack of randomization, which is of particular concern given that women in the counseling condition reported higher exposure to sexual violence and levels of PTSD symptoms at baseline.
