These observations generate many questions concerning POR duplication in diatoms as well as other algal species: Did extra por genes arise from HGT or gene duplication?
The mouse-specific expansion of Nlrp4 and Nlrp9, concerning segmental duplication events, has been driven by positive evolution.
In order to investigate the predicted segmental duplications concerning Nlrp4 duplicates on the mouse chromosome 7, a tBLASTn search [ 64] was implemented by using the mouse Nlrp4a (the longest Nlrp4 sequence) as a query against the mouse genome.
However we do not, a priori, know much about the relative importance of function versus history: Is the topology of a network primarily governed by the processes it direct, or is its topology influenced by random gene duplications [ 9, 10] and "link" rewirings [ 11]? Concerning gene duplications [ 9, 12- 19], we detected 581 paralogous pairs among the 848 gene products in YPD, see methods.
These included the belief that medicine should be evidence-based and scepticism about the evidence for telehealth (predisposing factor), concerns about duplication of care (predisposing), the need for technology to be simple and reliable (enabling), and the importance of clarity of roles for conventional and telehealth providers, and good communication between them (reinforcing).
The only instances in our study where CNVs were more common in the control than in the case group concern duplications at VIPR2 and deletions at distal 16p11.2.
The relative age of grape duplicated genes was estimated and this made possible to reveal a relatively recent Vitis-specific large scale duplication event concerning at least 10 chromosomes (duplication not reported before).
These include constraints concerning line elements, duplication, connectedness, inclusiveness, closure, good figures, and line sharing.
The data presented in Figure 2 of [ 57] concerning the genome duplication event in Populus does not suggest that these gene models are likely to be paralogous copies resulting from the duplication event and this assumption is supported by the Plant Genome Duplication Database [ 58] conserved syntenic block information displayed in the PopGenIE Browser.
Interestingly, the duplication blocks account for 32% of the first 50 Mb of the chromosome 7, where the segmental duplications concerning Nlrp4 and V1r genes are located.
