The present study lacked data on several important variables such as body mass index, HbA1c concentrations, physical activity, family cancer history, alcohol consumption, dietary pattern and smoking habits, and it was not designed or powered to answer questions about the risk of different cancer subtypes or about the safety profiles of individual insulin analogues.
HOMA-IR was assessed annually between 15 and 20 years of age (n = 518; intervention, n = 245; control, n = 273), along with diet, BMI, pubertal status, serum cotinine concentrations, and physical activity.
