DFA results indicate that dissolved oxygen (DO), total suspended sediment (TSS), dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), chemical oxygen demand (COD), as well as the biological oxygen demand (BOD) of river discharge, and the ammonium nitrogen (NH4 N) concentration of groundwater discharge significantly influenced Chl-a dynamics.
The case centered on a manufacturer's new water conservation plans, how the change would affect the concentration of chemical discharge at its factory, and which EPA regulations would apply.
For example, if the true concentration of ballast discharge is 5 zooplankthe·m−3, the probability that a random sampling unit (1 m) will contain 0 organisms is 0.0067 (eq 1a).
In a single trial, if zooplankton concentration exceeds the noncompliance threshold, one can reliably infer (with high statistical confidence) that the mean concentration of the discharge exceeds the standard (see Table 1).
The important case is that in which the concentration of the discharging species at the electrode surface becomes equal to zero.
The relationship between transition time, current density, and concentration of the discharging species is given by Sand's equation: Since τ is a well-defined function of the concentration of the discharging species, the observation of the transition time can also be used as an analytical tool (chronopotentiometry).

The comparison of relationship between C 0/C a (ratio of discharge concentration to ambient concentration) and C/C a (ratio of environmental concentration to ambient concentration) for the different chemicals (tracers) suggested that the data were of reasonably good quality, because C/C a was a function of the dilution ratio, C 0/C a (Fig. 11).
