Good folk music in general, and Martin Carthy's songs in particular, are the antidote to, the diametric opposite of, our postmodern world of digital cacophony, crisis in concentration, library closures and hyper-materialist phantasmagoria.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, one of the report's authors Shaun French said: "There's been a disproportionate concentration of closures in the least affluent inner city and traditional manufacturing areas of the UK".
Adding insult to concentration, most closures are occurring in poorer communities and in communities of color even while new fully equipped hospitals continue to open in the wealthier suburbs.
