The next computer episode was computed from the next available best-estimate-date and the day after and so forth.
For each bloodstream infection computer episode we computed the shortest time period between admission from home and the best-estimate-date.
We defined a bloodstream infection computer episode as polymicrobial if more than one type of microorganism was isolated within the computer episode.
