In this paper, we present tiered-service fair queuing (TSFQ), a new scheduler that exploits certain properties of Internet traffic to speed up the bottleneck operations related to virtual time computation and packet sorting.
Owing to parallelization, the distance and sorting computation took only 57 min (wall clock time), corresponding to >10 000 min CPU time.
Row sorting improved computation time for the slowest networks, whereas several other heuristics failed (Additional file 5).
In order to improve the efficiency of the computations of distances below, the μ-representation of the network is stored with the μ-vectors sorted in any total order, for instance the lexicographic order; note that the computational cost of sorting the μ-representation is O(nmlog m); hence, the total cost of the computation and sorting is still O m2 n ).
The client-side computation relies heavily on suffix sorting techniques and on space-efficient data structures for strings (Välimäki and Puglisi, 2012): the input data are first preprocessed into a compressed representation, which replaces the input data and acts as an efficient search structure.
Finally we record the number of occurrences of each gene adjacency that are present in the median results (excluding the case when it is fixed in median computation) and sort these adjacencies according to the number of occurrences.
A modified reference point based non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm with parallel computation is used as optimization algorithm.
An additional benefit of channel-based grouping is the potential of sorting out entire channels which also reduces computation time for the simulated auditory process.
The third one uses the same principles for signature generation [3, 4], without however sorting the signature components and differing in the computation of the binary image I which is used as an input for the computation of the contour signature (see [3, 4]).
On the contrary, it is expected that new ways of sorting and organizing simulation processes will save quite a number of those computations.
