Our expression data suggest that this gene is related to the lectins and may play a role mediating the physical contact with the host and elicitation of the signaling cascade comprising G-proteins and MAPKs.
This contact is mediated by lectins and proteins harboring cellulose binding modules from hyphae of the host and mycoparasitic fungus, respectively, thereby eliciting a signaling cascade comprising G-proteins and MAPKs that can modulate Trichoderma's protein expression pattern [ 7, 8].
