Hence, the aim of the present study is to control item difficulty intrinsically, i.e. control the item difficulty through the characteristics of the question components (reading passage, correct answer, and distractor, as illustrated in Fig. 1) during the item generation process.
In its first iteration, ED92a had four primary components: reading of primary literature in science education, discussion of key concepts in select areas of biology, attendance at a weekly TA training session, and teaching a laboratory section of the introductory biology lab course (Biol18a or Biol18b).
The data processing component reads both messages from the message queue and executes its routine, which results in aggregated time-series data (i.e. 15 min, hourly, daily and monthly intervals) being pushed to a contextualised repository.
The majority of assemblies contain two component reads while very few assemblies contain six or more component reads.
First, putative SNPs having total component reads less than five or the component reads for the minor allele less than two were excluded.
Most assemblies are short (Table 2) and contain few component reads (Table 3).
The split component reads k-mers into a memory array until it is full.
The merge component reads k-mers and their counts from each file and sums the counts for each k-mer.

Illumina TruSeq synthetic long-reads can span up to 18.5 kb; however, they fail to assemble if the sequence has problematic regions longer than the component reads used to assemble the synthetic reads (e.g. in the heterochromatin) [ 8].
Reads used in the assembly were aligned to the assembled transcripts and lowly represented isoform sequences with less than 1% of their gene (component) reads were removed resulting in 186,427 transcripts.
