Due to the potential preventive effect of the core bundle completion on patient mortality, locally driven organisational interventions are urgently needed, along with a wide educational campaign to change behaviours - addressed to doctors and nurses working in the emergency department, ICU and general medical and surgical wards - if mortality is to be improved.
The study duration is estimated to be of 1 year duration with final date of completion of patients' recruitment on February March 2014.
