Completion of the assignment or CAT at the end of 2002 reflected engagement in the first three steps of the process of evidence-based practice (writing a focussed question, searching for evidence, and critically appraising the evidence).
The overall IRB study participation rate for the three-part assessment was 100%, with some student scores and opinions omitted due to absence from class or incorrect completion of the assignment.
Encourage students to write about something they are really interested in; this is a big factor in successful completion of the assignment.
Taking into account that the designated assignments caused more viewings and more interactivity within the viewings (in terms of jumps from section to section), we wanted to test whether the completion of the assignments had also an effect on learning.
