Successful completion of challenges unlocks archive footage, and the game itself moves from the Battle of Britain to the Battle of Berlin, via the Battle of Stalingrad, the Allied invasion of Sicily, the Korsun Pocket (yep, I had to look that one up too) and the Battle of the Bulge.
