Know where you stand in the market and what your core competencies are – understand why your clients come to you.
Leadership competencies were understood to be essential to the application of other core public health competencies and to public health worker retention, morale, and productivity [ 52].

Future research should aim to: (1) help further define the competencies common to multiple sectors in the OST field; (2) understand how competencies are used by programs; and (3) examine the relationship between the competencies and implementation of high quality programs.
Furthermore, during adolescence cognitive and behavioural competencies are developed, which are necessary to understand and act upon health and behavioural change instructions [ 21, 22].
