Consequently, the focus of the supply of care will have to be re-directed towards one in which the competences of practice teams are paramount in order to meet the local demand [ 3].
Some studies seem to assume that the midwifery workforce across countries has uniform competence, scope of practice, and identity, which is regrettably not the case (5).
